The Gathering Season Is Close At Hand

Welcome to the very peak of “the dog days of summer. I don’t know about you, but this year the heat seems more intense. Perhaps it’s due to the actual temperature…however the additive business pressures must surely be having an impact.  But have no fear, we are soon approaching cooler temperatures and the start of what I affectionately call the “Gathering Season”.

We are soon to say goodbye to days at the pool and hello to the coming season where our hearts and homes are both filled.  After decades in this fantastic industry, I also have come to refer to the coming season as “selling season”……and sell we will.

The very simple fact is that home purchases may have cooled, but we, as an industry, have so much pent-up demand that it’s impossible to define. Record home buying and an unprecedented focus on all things home has NOT filled every dining room, living room and special corner with furniture.

Sarreid continues to be hyper focused on new product development and we have not pulled back on bringing in stock containers. Encourage your team to connect, on a personal level, with as many recent home buyers as possible. Explore their needs, what’s working, what’s not, what’s the grand vision? In each of these questions there is opportunity.

At a personal level, my wife and I have been in our house three years and we are still not as “set” as we would like it to be. As we approach Gathering Season we are already looking at changes and needed additions. There is plenty of opportunity out there, so long as we are asking the right questions.
