Sarreid is unique among the majority of corporations today in that our executive team members have been with the company in excess of twenty years each. Their combined experience and expertise in all things Sarreid are simply invaluable to our success. Larry Sandwick, Vice President of Information Technology, is no exception.
Larry joined the Sarreid team exactly 22 years ago in December, 2001. He was hired as a system administrator. His job entailed keeping around thirty computers running and secure in our home office in Wilson, NC. His expertise in technology and security were an invaluable asset to Sarreid as the company was evolving into what it is today.
We often tease that Larry is our Oz, the man behind the curtain, who orchestrates all of the bells and whistles at Sarreid. And while we do really think he is a magician, he is much much more than that. Larry and his team run our website and have helped propel us onto the e-commerce platform. Being able to offer our trade customers the option to buy directly from our website is an integral part of our business. Larry has to ensure we are integrating seamlessly with all other systems, especially our inventory which allows for up to date inventory quantities on our site. To manage and organize all of this, he runs an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system which basically means automation. Instead of spending valuable time doing things manually, it allows employees to focus on more value-added tasks.
At this very moment, Larry is in the middle of migrating Sarreid’s ERP server to an upgraded version. This is an extremely important technology project that shows how invested Sarreid is in the tech side of the business. With Larry leading the project, we can be confident it will be done properly and securely…because, cybersecurity is also Larry’s thing. With ever changing and sophisticated cybersecurity threats happening everyday, we have to be at the top of our game. For this reason, Larry makes staying informed and educated about new technologies and strategies a top priory.
Besides keeping up with industry knowledge, outside of Sarreid, Larry enjoys shooting competitively and spending time with his family. Fun fact, he married his high school sweetheart and they have been married for 42 years! As an Air Force Veteran and a member of our Sarreid family, we are beyond thankful for his service.
