In honor of this season of gratitude, we wanted to create a beautiful Thanksgiving tablescape to share with you all. With this in mind, we reached out to a local interior designer and friend, Grey Joyner of Grey Joyner Interiors, to help us out.
Grey Joyner was born with a keen eye for design. Her motto, “both in design and in life is to be you, not like anyone else but to find and be your true self! I feel like design can be a growing experience for a client to reach in and pull out their true artistic side, and to help them step out of their comfort zones a little. When this happens, a true piece of art shines through not only for the room but for them internally, and that is a true work of art!”
We were lucky enough to tag along with Grey for the day and witness her creative process. And, as you will see below, the results are beautiful.

1. Gather Greenery
The first stop was off the beaten path to forage for greenery. After spotting the perfect tree, we got to work pulling branches. We left with armfuls of Magnolia and Boxwood. Next, it was off to her client’s home where Grey worked her magic on a Sarreid Walnut Jupe Dining Table. The functionality of this table to expand and reconfigure is what makes it perfect in a family home.

2. Get Prepared
The family of four usually keeps their table closed to save space but with anticipated guests coming for the holiday, we expanded the Walnut Jupe Table so that it can easily seat up to 8 people. Although it’s messy, laying out all of the greenery and accessories helps to visualize how the centerpiece will come together.
3. Start with the Centerpiece
Grey started with the larger magnolia leaves and layered in the boxwood until it looked luscious and full. To add some texture and height, she placed pheasant feathers throughout. To finish it off she decided to add some fresh fruit and viola… a Thanksgiving centerpiece of our dreams!

4. The Finishing Touches
The warm wood tones in the table and the natural colors of the centerpiece and place settings create a welcoming dining space that we would all love to RSVP to. The emerald green wine glasses add a chic pop of color that is unexpected next to the traditional crystal and dinnerware. A few golden votives flickering will help ensure the meal at this table could go on for hours after the food is eaten.
