From Workshops to Showrooms

How Travel Shapes Sarreid’s Designs

By Mickey Sharpe, VP of Creative & Design

Some of our best ideas start with a suitcase and a plane ticket. One week, we might be stepping into a sunlit workshop, running our hands over the rough texture of a just-carved table base. The next, we’re wandering through a bustling market, our eyes catching color combinations we’ve never seen before. These moments—small and unexpected—are often the spark that grows into a design you’ll eventually see in our collection. And while we’re there, shoulder to shoulder with skilled artisans, we talk, we sketch, we problem-solve, making sure every detail lives up to the quality you expect from us.

But our journeys don’t stop at the maker’s bench. I recently spent a week in the Lone Star State traveling with our Sales Representative, Clyde Barnard, from Dallas to Houston—making stops in between—and met loyal Sarreid customers who welcomed us warmly. They shared invaluable insights for our product development process, along with constructive feedback on customer service that will help us serve them even better. Equally beneficial to direct feedback is seeing how Sarreid products are incorporated on project presentation boards at a design studio and displayed in beautiful vignettes in a designer storefront or larger retail stores.

These kinds of visits give us a clear view of how our designs live in the real world—what’s working beautifully, and where we can refine. More than anything, they remind us that our work is a collaboration, shaped not only by our vision, but by the voices of the people who use and love our furniture.
