Social Media Trends & Tips

Owning a business requires you to wear multiple hats throughout the day. One of these hats should include social media manager, as there is not an industry out there that cannot benefit from being active on social media. According to smartinsights.com, “59% of the world’s population uses social media and the average daily usage is 2 hours and 21 minutes.” Now more than ever, you have to be very strategic in how you represent your company on social media.  However, not everyone has the time or energy to keep up with the everchanging digital landscape.  At Sarreid, we have made every effort to stay on top of the digital trends and here is what we have learned…

1. Social Media is The New Search Engine

According to Digital Media Expert, Courtney Porter, “Social media is becoming the new search engine in 2023. Rather than typing keywords into google to find what they’re looking for, millennials and Gen Z are using Instagram and TikTok as their means of discovery. Search is becoming a soup of visuals and social proof (engagement, reviews), rather than mere keywords. And what the apps’ algorithms are recommending to watch next based on those searches is increasingly individualized, as it is personally curated based on you and your network’s past searches. Who you and your brand associate with on social media has never been more important.”

2. Short Form Video is Everything

The Gen Z app of choice, TikTok, is still growing in popularity, even with the older generations. The short video format is very effective in marketing products and services, hence why Instagram jumped on board with Reels. While we still want to see beautiful still images of Interior Design projects, videos of before and after’s or the design process grab viewers attention more effectively. Moral of the story, do not be afraid to post casual videos as it makes the viewer feel more connected.

At Sarreid,  our behind the scenes videos in the warehouse or showroom generate more views and engagement than any other type of posts.

3. Partner Up for Creator Marketing

According to Tubluar Labs, “creator and influencer viewership will hit 10 trillion views per month across all platforms in 2023. In 2022, influencer content was watched 13.2 times more than media and brand content.” This means if you haven’t already collaborated with creators to generate more engagement then you better start!

At Sarreid we love to share your content and promote your business. It’s a win win! If you have questions on how we can collaborate in the future please send us a message sll@sarreid.com .

4. What Social Media Platforms Matter?

With new platforms popping up daily, it is hard to know where to put your efforts. You want to make sure you are getting the most value of your time and advertising money. Here is a list of top social media sited you should be on:

Instagram has surpassed 1 billion monthly users and remains the most popular app for blending personal and professional. If your customer is 40 and under, then you should most certainly be well represented on this platform. According to hubspot.com, “Instagram is the platform social media marketers expect to grow the most in 2023, and they say it has the most accurate algorithm and offers brands the best potential to grow their audience.”

Facebook is by far the largest social media platform with 3 billion monthly users. Facebook users tend to become more active as their age increases- especially after 40 years of age. This platform is great for starting conversations and building a community around your brand. The usage significantly increased in 2022, so it is definitely worth watching in 2023

Tik Tok has over 1 billion monthly users and has quickly become one of the top performing social media platforms. According to adobe.com, “Over half of TikTok’s American audience is under the age of 35; 48% are between the ages of 10 and 29.” It is a great way to both entertain and grab a younger audience’s attention.

Youtube is the 2nd most popular search engine in the world right behind google. If your brand can provide tutorials or product reviews, you should be creating videos. According to Adobe.com “74% of American adults regularly use YouTube, with a heavy concentration in the age range of 15 to 35.”
